Carbon Peel (Hollywood Peel) in Chicago

A carbon peel (also called a Hollywood Peel or carbon laser facial) applies a thin layer of liquid carbon to the face. Carbon is highly absorbent and draws oil, dirt, and dead skin cells out of the pores. A laser then passes over the skin - the light energy is attracted to the dark carbon and vaporizes it instantly, taking the debris with it. No significant downtime. Some clients experience mild redness for a few hours after - nothing that requires staying home. The skin typically feels smooth and looks brighter immediately after the session. Active skincare ingredients (retinol, acids) should be avoided for 2-3 days, and SPF 30+ is recommended for two weeks post-treatment.

Chemical peels use acids (glycolic, salicylic, TCA) to exfoliate the skin surface - they work through a chemical reaction and often cause visible flaking or peeling afterward. Carbon peel uses laser energy to physically vaporize the skin surface and pore contents - no peeling, no acids, no downtime. Carbon peel is better for oily and acne-prone skin.
